CLAY TARGET SHOOTING
The South West Academy of Sport (SWAS) Clay Target Shooting program is proudly supported by the Victorian Clay Target Association (VCTA) and the Victorian Institute of Sport. The program aims to bring together the most talented junior players in the South West region and develop them for selection into State or National squads.
Program Structure
The Clay Target Shooting program is structured to deliver 7 training sessions over the program. These sessions are scheduled to compliment an athlete’s club activities as well as avoid Regional and State Teams events. The program also aims to include guest coaches to provide additional insights to the training environment.
Duration
The Clay Target Shooting squad program will run of a Sunday from August until March with all sessions at Noorat Gun Club unless otherwise specified.

Inclusions
- Clay Targets at each shoot
- Inter Academy with Gippsland and Bendigo Academies
- At home or in gym training program (please note SWAS does not provide a trainer or gym access)
- Online Member portal with access to education and training resources
- SWAS Training Tee
Exclusions
- 5-6x cartridges per shoot payable directly to the coach/club or privately sourced
- SWAS Shooting Jacket (approx. $240 inc GST)
- SWAS merchandise (hoodies, caps, etc)

Selection Criteria
The SWAS Clay Target Shooting program caters for athletes in the U18 age groups. The program can service up to 12 athletes with final numbers dependent upon competency against the selection criteria.
Athletes must;

Be an existing member of an affiliated ACTA club in the South West, or the Victorian Clay Target Association directly.

Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Have reached a satisfactory standard of based on current ranking and/or performance at local tournaments and regional events.

Show a willingness to learn and be able to demonstrate competency with due regard to firearm safety.

Have a parent present at all sessions.
Please note that SWAS is finalising the program for 2024. As such, some alterations to the program may still occur.
