"I am very grateful to be one of the lucky athletes who are a part of the wonderful SWAS - APEX program. It is such an awesome program to be a part of as it teaches you very important life skills about your sport and sports in general. SWAS brings out the full potential in athletes by providing educational opportunities, fitness testing, access to services such as dieticians and sport psychologists, as well as providing regular check-ins and support.”

A Bit About Me
My passion for discus started through competing in primary school and my early years at Warrnambool Little Athletics. Qualifying for my first regional and then state school athletics carnival in grade 4, I discovered that I really enjoyed the throwing events with discus being my favourite. It was during a Friday night little athletics meet that local coach Mark really encouraged me to focus on training so I could perform at higher levels of competition. Over the few years that followed I travelled around Victoria competing in both little athletics and school competitions.
My first season with Athletics Victoria was 2024/25. During an AVSL competition I decided to sign myself up for hammer throw, to increase the overall team score. I had never thrown a hammer before, only watched other athletes do it in the weeks prior, but it looked fun. With encouragement from other athletes who convinced me to continue, my parents purchased me a hammer and I began practicing alongside my discus training.
I have trained regularly with Mark, Bob, Dad or by myself (I have a discus ring in my front paddock after I broke a bedroom window) over the past 12-18 months to improve. I have proudly represented my state in 2 national events this season and hope to continue on this success in the seasons to come.
My other sporting interests of AFL and swimming help me to maintain general overall fitness which has greatly improved my throwing ability. I love the unique nature of throwing and the same girls are at many of the same competitions which makes the competitions fun and social.
