Athletics Update

A lot has been going on in the world of athletics and SWAS athletes have been performing at the top of their game. Over the past weeks athletics athletes have competed in various events from school sports and regional events to Little Athletic State Titles and Australian Championships.


A huge congratulations to Jacob Mibus, Caytlyn Sharp, Ruby Conheady, Grace Kelly, Jesse Suter and Cameron Friedrichs who have been working hard and achieving high results at their recent competitions and championships.


Athlete results:


Jacob Mibus:

Jacob has competed in the Australian Championships and has achieved PBs and National records.


In the 200m he ran 25.96 sec which is 1 ½ seconds off his PB and was the new National U20 and U18 T64 record (to be officially ratified).


He won a Silver Medal in Long jump and ran a new PB of 12.79 to make the 100m final and finished 4th.


Caytlyn Sharp:

Caytlyn broke the Australian under 18 Long Jump and under 18 200m record at Nationals. She came home with a bronze medal in Long Jump, 5th in 400m 7th in 100m and 6th in 200m overall. At LAVIC state she placed 1st in 100m 16-20 multiclass girls, 2nd in Long Jump and 3rd Shot Put. She has also been named as an INAS International Ambassador (one of only 2 athletes in Australia and 20 in the world). An amazing opportunity and achievement.


Grace Kelly:

Grace competed in the Little Athletics State Titles 100m and 200m.


Grace won her heat of the 100m and finished with a Silver Medal in the final.


Ruby Conheady:

Ruby competed in the Little Athletics State Titles. She ran a PB in the 80m hurdles and placed 11th in a highly contested event where in the final the winner broke the Australian record.


Jesse Suter:

Jesse had great results at the School Sport finishing up with 1st place in 100m, 200m, Hurdles, 4 x 100m relay, High jump, Long jump, Triple jump, Shot-put, Discus and the 100m championship race earning him the title of fastest boy in the school. He also took home a 2nd place in 800m.


Jesse is through to the district finals for 100m, Shot put, Discus, 4 x 100m relay and the 100m championship race.


Cameron Friedrichs:

Cameron competed at the Regionals and was named Age Champion for Bayview College.
