Personal Best for Penny

Over the past week Penny Smith competed in Sydney in Shootings Oceania Grand Prix. Penny shot a Personal Best score of 67 successful shots from a total of 75 attempts, with such great shooting and with this score Penny finished second overall.

Penny also competed in Sydney over the weekend at the AISL Youth Nationals, Penny is her own words feels that she “didn’t shoot as well as she had earlier in the week”, but Penny still scored 61 successful shots out of 75 attempts and to win the Junior Girls U17 Title.

From Penny’s age group results and score she was selected to compete in the overall final (top 6 ladies U25 years). Penny qualified fourth for the final and after the 25 target (single barrel) shoot off, Penny finished the overall competition in  2nd place. Penny said after that, “the final is always the hardest part because of the single barrel element, I was able to hold my nerve which was great and I scored 20 successful shots from 25 attempts which was also the best score in the final.

Penny has had a very successful year with the South West Academy of Sport and we look forward to working together into the future.
